Unity Service

On Friday Evening Jan 20th some of us attended the Port Perry Unity Service at the Presbyterian Church. Many denominations were encouraged to leave their denominational tags at the door and celebrate that we are all one in Christ. The worship and liturgy was uplifting and the speaker was inspirational. Rob Parker was one of the founders of the National House of Prayer in Ottawa and he challenged all of us to unite in prayer for our community and nation. Did you know that we have a dedicated group of prayer warriors who actually pray and intercede in the House of Commons while MP’s are deliberating and making decisions? What an awesome thought that our MP’s are covered in prayer both as a group and also frequently personally. Rob Parker believes that one of the marks of a christian is our commitment to prayer.Even Jesus was committed to prayer. We can get involved in NHOP by volunteering time and donating our treasures to support this ministry.

It was an inspirational evening to join with other believers in Port to worship, pray and be challenged to reach out to our community. My only concern is that the church was not packed. How much are we really interested in working with our brother and sisters to build the kingdom in this region? Let’s pray that the Spirit would draw us together to lift high the name of Jesus in Port Perry and area.
